DOS Application under Win XP Pro

By Haider Raza ·
DOS/FoxPRO application is using all the CPU utilization and all the available memory under Win XP Pro.

The application was tested on Netware 3.12 and also copying the application on a local HD under Win XP. The application runs fine under Win 98SE.

Also tried different options of Win XP compatibility mode for Win 95 but none seems to be reducing the CPU utilization and memory usage.

Can any one help how to run DOS application under XP without allocating entire memory and CPU cycles.

I would copy the app. in a folder. Then use command promt inside accessories to open a dos windows. just like dos, you go to the folder that you have copied the app. then execute the app as normal like dos command.
Some of my client replaced their m/c with xp but their finance was still in dos. I copied these from the old drive and operate them like dos.

I had the same problem with a foxpro program.
Try downloading TAME. This program allocates CPU resources efficiently with DOS programs. I went from 98% to 10% CPU usage.
