Dropped drive question

By mark_hensley ·
Ok. The drive was dropped while turened on.
Now, it's not recognized, and doesn't even try to spin up.

Could it be that when it dropped (external USB case) that the Drive controller was damaged, and that swapping out boards will bring it back to life?

I really can't afford to spend a couple of grand to retrieve the Data, even though I need it. The drive contains soem songs I was working on.

Buy another hard disk

by JamesRL In reply to Dropped drive question

Of the same brand and model, and swap the drive controllers. I would also take it out of the USB case, just in case one of the power connections is the culprit.

Of course I hope you wont need lectures on backups for things as important as your songs right? Hopefully you have learned that lesson.
