Dual Monitor Capability

By AlGolfis ·
Hello everyone, I am trying to figure out why the dual display option in my Win 2000 Pro. laptop is not available. I want to be able to work with two screens, one in the laptop and another on the external monitor. The Win 2000 Pro help takes me to Settings in the Display menu but the next steps don't correspond to what I see on the screen. I appreciate your help.

Dual Monitor Capability

Hi,

Microsoft do not support the type of configuration you are attempting. In order to have multimonitor support you are required to have two Graphics cards installed in your machine (and your laptop only has one).

I've also tried to do what you are attempting on my laptop, but a single video card will only drive one display device (or multiple devices with the same image in the case of a laptop.

I have made this work on a number of desktops as you simply install a second video card!

Another option with a laptop is to use a docking station ( not a port replicator ) as these usually have a video cord built in.
