I have Fedora 10 running on a PC with an Intel G35 onboard video chipset at work.
I am unable to get proper dual screen support in Fedora10. I can get a mirrored screen using an incorrect resolution, but I can not get F10 to give me two independent screens, 1 at 1680×1050, and 2 at 1152×864.
I can select both using the displays settings, but pressing OK does nothing.
I am attempting to migrate my work environment from Windows (which has no problem with the above described displays settings) to Fedora 10. If I can’t work out this display issue, it’s a deal breaker.
I cannot install a better supported video card, as installation of hardware violates company policy.
I have googled the issue and found many pages describing the issue, but to date, nothing I’ve attempted has changed the issue. It appears to be a problem with the video driver.
As a Linux newbie, it was beyond my ability to compile the video driver fresh, but I did attempt it. (I don’t yet know how to compile drivers/programs in Linux)
Has anyone been able to solve this issue through software alone? (IE not installing a new video card)
I’d even be happy to try to recompile the video driver again if someone can provide line by line instructions to do so. I really would like this migration to happen
