Dual screen fiasco

By moputertech ·
I have a Dell Vostro 3550 laptop running Windows 10 Pro. Here's the issue. If I use the generic video driver, the laptop screen is fine, but can't clone it to my projector. If I update the video drivers (Intel HD 3000), my laptop screen disappears and is only on my projector (HDMI). As a test, I plugged a monitor into the VGA port and voila, the video is there too...but not on my main screen. I tried clone, extend, only PC and only 2nd good. Can someone please help???

Thank you!!

P.S. All drivers are updated from Dell and Intel.

With the Intel driver installed, you should have an Intel display icon in your system tray, or Control Panel. double click this to get to the Intel Video Control Panel. Go to the area for Dual monitors or TV. Choose to Mirror the display. You will get the same display on both monitors. You can also choose to Extend the display, your main screen will have the start button and taskbar and the other screen will be an extension of the desktop.
Or you can right click the Desktop, choose Display Settings, scroll down to Multiple Displays go thru the various settings.
