    DUN not working

    Locked

    by ktrobee ·

I have a Win 95a machine that is using DUN 1.3. TCP/IP is set to run WINS and not to use the Default Gateway on Remote Network.
The NIC card is set to use DHCP and when they are plugged into the network, everything works fine. When they are dialing in to the network, I can see the network, but can’t access it and the connection disconnects every 3 to 4 minutes.

I’d switch the setting in the TCP/IP -> dialup adapter tha reads used dhcp for wins resolution to disable wins and reboot.

If that doesn’t work, based on the line “disconnects every 3 to 4 minutes”, I’d say to try another modem.

It seems to me you have a notebook. Ok, try this, on Control Panel, system, disable the NIC card on the configuration when you’re not in the office, to use the modem. Furthermore, when you do this, do a search for *.pwl and delete all of them. Next time you reboot it will ask you for your windows password, leave it blank. Then dialin and you should get the domain logon screen.
I assume you’re not the only one dialing in, so the problem is not on the server. With your NIC card in place, even when you’re alway, booting your machine you get the logon window and you probably press Esc to get into the system. By disabling the card, that window will not pop up.
      Good Luck!
