I have a table with 2 fields: part# and qty.
I have records that have the same value in the "part#" field. I would like to remove these duplicates, so I have 1 record with the total of the values from the "qty" field (from each of the matching records)

You can accomplish this with a sum query. It should look something like this:

select part#, sum(qty) from tbl
group by part#

You can also add an "order by" clause to sort the results by part#.
