"Duplicates Query Wizard" in Access 2k

By Arcidius ·
Whenever I try and access this feature from my
laptop instalations of Access 2000, I get the
following error:

This feature isn't installed.

To install this feature, rerun the MS Access or MS Office setup program or, if you're using a
third-party add-in, reinstall the add-in.

I have done a full install of both discs and it still will not work. Odder still, on a
workstation computer a similar error comes up,
but asks if I want to install the feature. It
then goes to the network, grabs some files and
installs the feature. But this will not work for
the laptops. Does anybody have any ideas???

Thanks

When you did the "full install" did you check the installation properties for each component? There are options for "install on first use" and "Run from disk", etc... You want to make sure that you get EVERYTHING installed onto the disk so that you don't have to go through the instalaltion again.

When you are installing Access there is an option to install the Wizards and various other features. If you have not installed every one of these features you will find that specific items, such as the Duplicate Query Wizard, are not available. Usually you see the possibility of doing a "Normal" install or a "Full" install with several levels of checkboxes. If all checkboxes are not checked some wizards will not be there when you need them. One possibility is to be sure that the computer is not connected to the network when you are installing Access, whether as a part of Office or on its own, so that these wizard files will not be omitted.
