Compressed air

by Jacky Howe In reply to dust removal from inside ...

I use and old Beaver Paint Sprayer. With the paint can disconnected and one of the fittings to reduce and direct the air flow, it's a little beauty. Being airless there is no moisture involved whatsoever.

You can guide the air and use the paint brush on the USB ports etc.., also use the brush handle to stop fans from spinning as the air is directed around them.

You can also buy cans of compressed air.

Tip. Don't let the fans spin as they can generate power.

One other tip about compressed air ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to dust removal from inside ...

I'm not as rich as Jacky Howe (sic) so I've got to buy cans of air.

If you use a can of compressed air, it should come with a little plastic straw for aiming the jet of air into small confined spaces. BE CAREFUL to NOT allow the can itself to get tilted - otherwise you run a high risk of spraying propellant rather than compressed air.

around 1990. I've used it to paint a house, including the roof. Best $120 AU that I've spent in a long time.

Warning! Static build up!

by 1bn0 In reply to dust removal from inside ...

Compressoras can generate static in the air.

So can sucking air across the bristle on a vacumn cleaner nozzle.

Canned compressed air is de-inonized to limit this.

Electronics vacmun cleaners are alos designed to limt static.

I have always used paint brushes as a cleaning aid. Use lightly and slowly.

Otherwise it's just like rubbing a ballon across your hair.
