dvd software burnt off normal cd burner

By MagiGirl9 ·
I was wondering if anyone out there could help me with a problem I'm having. I had heard you can install some sort of software to burn dvds with a regular cd burner. I want to burn a few episodes of shows I've downloaded but I've yet to find a program that will burn mpeg files that large (430725 kb) to a cd-r disk and have it play on a regular dvd player. Does anyone know of a program that would burn AVI and MPEG with a normal cd-r burner and play them on a dvd player?

CD-R and CD-RW burners WILL NOT burn in DVD format. The only option you have is to create a video CD (VCD). Most newer DVD players support this format. Almost all CD burning software supports creating video CDs, though not in the free versions. Theyshould be able to spread the file out over multiple CDs if necessary.

You wouldn't believe this, but the program I stumbled into shortly after that-it's called Super DVD Ripper and it gives 9 free tries of the full version before you have to register it. I didn't believe them-I thought it was crazy, but it really works! I was able to burn an episode of my favorite tv show onto cd-r with my very own cd burner! I was so happy! Though, I noticed that whoever had originally saved the file did so under Winamp, and not some sort of MPEG, so I couldn't burnany other episodes. I know there's got to be a solution to this out there, (converting my other files to winamp or avi or something the program will recognize). I won't stop looking until I find it.
