DVD-Writer not reading blank cds

By Cool&Deadly ·
My laptop has a Optiarc DVD RW AD-7581A ATA drive. When i insert blank cds in my drive its not recoginzing it and any windows that i have open will freeze until i remove the blank cds. If i do insert a cd that has data on it the drive will recognize it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive, boot up in safe mode and did the same thing and nothing happend. Does anyone know a solution in going about loving this problem?

What do you expect to READ from a blank CD ?...

Moreover, why are you inserting a blank CD in your optical drive if you've got open windows unrelated to the burning of a CD?

I reckon if you only had a burning program open, and had already selected data for burning to a CD, and your burning program prompted you to insert a blank CD, the system wouldn't freeze. What do you reckon?

As to "a solution in going about loving this problem" - you've got me there!

Edited coz I couldn't resist it. :^0

Well i do not have the burning prgram open before inserting the blank cd. When i insert the blank cd the drive makes this weird sound like its speading up and slowing down when its trying to recognize the blank cd. It doesnt do that with the cds that have data on them
