DVD-Writer not recognizing blank cds

By Cool&Deadly ·
My laptop has a Optiarc DVD RW AD-7581A ATA drive. When i insert blank cds in my drive its not recoginzing it and any windows that i have open will freeze until i remove the blank cds. If i do insert a cd that has data on it the drive will recognize it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive, boot up in safe mode and did the same thing and nothing happend. Does anyone know a solution in going about loving this problem?

Sounds as if the Blanks that you are using are

Either damaged and need replacing or that they are not supported by this Drive.

Personally I would go with the former as the most likely. If the Disc's have been exposed to Sunlight the Dye in the Data Side of the Disc's could have been adversely affected and causing the system to lock up when you insert one of these Disc's.

You need to store any Recordable media quite well and keep it away from heat and sunlight before and after use otherwise it gets damaged.
