In China

by mjwx In reply to Edited out

when they shoot you, they make your family pay for the bullet.

With "security through servailence" you have "freedom from fear". I can only manage one line of propaganda before I sick. I must ask, what kind of govenment feels it must servail it's own people? Net-snooping, Warentless wire-tapping, UAV servailence drones over public gatherings surly now this is over the top and does the majority of the populus in the US support these measures. It just seems to me that they are the result of a paranoid govenment more concerned with keeping people in line than keeping bad people out (which should be done in customs).

A while ago someone compared what a republican and a democrat would do if a terroist jumped out in front of them. The first question I would ask is "why did this person even get into the country in the first place". Prevention is better than cure, I view sytematic servailence as neither in a free society.

If anyone wants to retort by pointing out the CCTV systems in place in brittan and australia, Anyone with half a brain can spot a CCTV camera (for anyone without half a brain cell they are inside the plastic bubbles on the lamp post) and I can see I am not being servailed in my own home. CCTV cameras are installed in crime hotspots (train stations, nightclub districts, commercial districts) and have helped to solve and deter actual crimes (rape's, stabbing).

Quit thinking,

Maybe it?s a good idea?

The intelligent can be seen as a threat to the powerful.

Going completely off topic now (to help get your mind off of this) that the slaves that built the pyramids in ancient Egypt were fed beer in the evening to prevent uprisings. But now considerable evidence is mounting that slaves were not used to build the pyramids. Instead some Egyptologists have theorised that Egyptian citizens gave up a portion of their year to work on the great projects out of a sense of patriotism. So you could now think of that beer as a reward.

Interesting the things you learn at a pub lunch?
