Editing Outlook 2000 .oft files

First, my apologies if this is in the wrong forum. I have some .oft files in Outlook in which I want to add some form fields to using Word. I can create the fields and edit them just fine. However when I add drop-down form fields, the field is blank when the file is received. I have checked the source code for the message and see the code for the drop-down form field, yet is blank in the email. Any suggestions
