Electronic Records Retention Ideas.

Our company has found an ever increasing need for record retention of electronic documents such as email. However, unlike record retention of paper, these documents need to have the functionality of organizing it so it is searchable. It also has to be usable. Anything to complicated could cause users to not want to use the system. I have searched several software programs such as Enterprise Vault; however, they do not provide great searchable functions. My question is how do other large organizations retain emails and other electronic documents?
