.... there are NO downloads. You have to purchase a replacement.

Your best bet is to buy the Windows disk.

And then download the drivers for your computer from E-machine. Or if you know the drivers for your computer you can select them here:

So if I don't have a windows disc should I not do this. Because it's only 30.00 to replace the 5 emachine recovery discs I have lost. I am sure windows is probably more? Canyou download windows xp media center somewhere? linux?

I would get the Windows disk because it has more functions.

A Windows disk has more functions than the recovery disks. But the choice is yours really. If you do not have the money then go for the recovery disks. But when you get them copy each one so that you have a back up of the originals. :)
You can download Linux if you need to. The best one for you, if you are a newbe to Linux is Ubuntu:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
This will have most (not all) of the drivers for your computer. This will be in a ISO format so you need a ISO burner:
Active ISO Burner 1.1.4:
http://www.download.com/Active-ISO-Burner/3000-2646_4-10602452.html
This will burn your ISO file to Cd or DVD.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with Peconet Tietokoneet.

It does not sound like you are familiar with installing Windows. The recovery disks will restore the computer including the appropriate drivers for your hardware. And yes they are cheaper than buying a Retail copy of Windows.

Download SP3 and burn it to disk before you reload the machine. Install SP3 after the recovery but before you attempt to connect the computer to an internet connection.
