Emachines 1742 XP home SP2 – Realtek Arris Belkin toshiba a215

by missieorama . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

I have the above items, Realtek fast ethernet controller, arris tm502g cable modem (mediacom cable – subs of comcast), belkin wireless g and a toshiba a215 laptop.

my issues. emachines does not recognize the ethernet and the arris has to be hooked up to it via usb to get any internet.

arris takes over the realtek spot on the network diagnostics

I can hook up the toshiba (vista) through the router to the arris with the ethernet, but not wireless if the usb is unplugged from it.

now I can’t even access 192.168.2.1 to mess with the router.

I updated the desktop (windows updates) and now I can’t get it to go online, the LAN disappeared from network connections (but not netsh)

I tried to use the ipconfig /all and it just said ip configuration without any info

now I just get the code 10 cannot start error on the arris in the device manager.
