email forward to external email address

I want my email from outlook 2003 to be forwarded to an external email address (hotmail)at work. Is there a way to do that without contact my IT dept (they are not friendly at all)? Please help! Thanks

May be able to use a rule

by Bizzo In reply to email forward to external ...

Open outlook
Add your hotmail account to your address list

Go to Tools -> Rule and Alerts
E-mail Rules
New Rule
Start from a blank rule

"Check messages when they arrive
where my name is in the to box
forward it to people or a distribution list"

And replace "people or a distribution list with your hotmail entry in the address book.

Not tried this myself, but it should work if the rules are stored on the server.

email forward to external email address

No it is not possible. You can forward your message by creating a rule but you will have to keep your Outlook 2003 and in turn your computer permanently ON and logged IN while you are away. Which will be not desireable by your organization. Hence it has to be done from your organizations mail servers for the days u r away and for that u will have to tell your IT dept.
