Email forwarding

By California Dead Head ·
I have a user that left and wants his e-mail forwarded to his new internet email address from his current coroporate e-mail account on my exchange 2000 server. How or where do I set up his user account to forward all mail that comes to his corporate address to his new internet address. Running W2000 server and Exchange 2000.

The easiest way is to take their current mailbox and create a rule that automatically forwards the mail to the new address. Set the mailbox kb limit to 0 so that the email does not build up on your server. You might also setup an autoreply rule thatsends a message back to the sender informing them of the ex-users new email address.
Also, set a time limit, 90 days or something, after which you'll delete the account.
Hope that helps.

You can delete his mailbox and set him up as a Contact. A Contact is a person that has an email address on your system, but does not have a mailbox. The email will get routed to his personal mailbox. Under Active Directory Users and Computers, rightclick on users and select New | Contact.
