Email from TR Member

By JamesRL ·
Anyone else get an email from mk_*&ja@*&^.com mentioning a message of urgent importance and asking me to reply to j_p*&@%$&.co.uk. It says its from a TR member

This rings some SPAM bells. If someone real from TR wanted to ask me something, I don't think they would ask me to simply reply, they would ask in the initial email.

Anyone else get this?

James

One favor

I agree that it does sound like spam. However, if anyone runs into anything else like this, could you try to id the user without using their full e-mail address? Maybe "mk_jaj@..." instead.

I'd hate for a user who has a legitimate question get their e-mail adress posted in the forum.

Thanks,
sm

Thats a good point

And I will endevour to remember it for the future.

The nature of the email was extremely cryptic.

Why would someone who already has my email want me to email them to give them permission to ask a question. Why would they not just ask permission and ask the question on the same email. It seemed to me like someone wanted me to email so they could verify it is a valid address. So I have not replied.

No James everyone has got it all wrong

The guy is just trying to be polite and wants to know if he/she can ask you a question. It's very common in IT haven't you ever noticed? Everyone is so polite that it is sickening and they never come out demanding a solution to a problem ever they just ask in such a mealy mouth way can you have a look see when it is convenient to you.

Of course answer the e-mail at the very least you will be helping the senders hip pocket as he sells on your e-mail address to other spammers and it will be a good test for your Spam Filter to see what it will stop.

Just look at the HELP URGENT!!! thread for example.

Now there's someone politely poosyfooting (I know it's a typo but otherwise it gets edited)for help.
