emails deleting in Outlook 2000

By eddie ·
My boss set up some rules in Outlook 2000 to move emails sent by certain people to specific folders. Upon running these rules he watched as the emails mysteriously disappeared! They did not go into the deleted items folder, they did not go into any other folder that exists. They just disappeared. Has anyone seen this before? A virus maybe?? Please help solve this mystery.

Have you looked at the rule and made sure it was correctly set up? It is very easy to set up the rule to delete files without moving them. It sounds like this is exactly what happened. Check the rule. Should be able to view it and paste it up here for analysis.

Just to test, go to Tools, options, click on the other tab, and in the general section, click advanced, then make sure "warn before permanantely deleting items" is checked. This should at least tell you if the previous answer may be the culprit...

Go to the folder where the messages are suppose to be going and make sure in the Views -> Current View that Messages is checked off.
