Emergency Repair Disk

My emergency repair disk floppy will not hold all of my ERD information. Microsoft suggests update my ERD to hard drive or to delete some of the files (security and SAM files) in order to use Rdisk and fit them on the floppy. My questions – if I update to the hard drive (1)what if I cannot access my hard drive in the event of a crash? (2)can I copy the repair folder from the hard drive and then put these files on a bootable cd? and (3)how do the latter if I have an NTFS file system on my server?
