Emoticon Conversion

By tina.m.miller ·
When some of my users type the standard emoticons :-) they get converted to icons. The others want to know why they don't. I know there's probably a simple answer, but I can't find it...

if you use outlook and Word is used as your email editor, then it's actually Word that is doing the conversion - more specifically, it's Word's "auto-correct" function. Go into Word, click Tools, AutoCorrect... and look at the first few default replace-withs. To at best mimic that in other programs, depending of course on the program's use of fonts, experiment with the WINGDING font. it has lots of fun symbols in it. you may find that characters from other fonts are useful too.
