    EnablePrefetcher parameters

    Locked

    by joe935 ·

When I checked this registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\MemoryManagement\PrefetchParameters\EnablePrefetcher
it was set to 5. Searching the MSKB returned nothing on this setting. Does anyone know what the 5 parameter does?

      Well…

      0 ‐ Disable Prefetcher
      1 ‐ Application launch prefetching
      2 ‐ Boot prefetching
3 ‐ Both application and boot prefetching

but I’ve seen that some optimization programs like to set it to 5 for some reason. It is either undocumented, or does nothing. Sometimes these settings are additive, but in this case, 3+2 would still be the same as 3.
