Enterrpise or Standard Edition

By gary ·
Just a quick clarification for myself but from my readings, which Exchange 2000 Edition do I require to also run OWA. I am currently running Exchange 5.5 and OWA. When I upgrade to E2K does that mean I require Enterprise Edition rather than Standard, in relation to the Front-end/Back-end Servers???

Both versions provide the same functionality with a few restrictions. The Four I can recall offhand is
1)Standard Edition provide one storage group(akin to exch 5.5,One priv and 1 pub)
2)Database limititions to 16GB
3)no Clustering capability
4) No FE/BE configuration
hope this helps

Unfortunately, a front-end/back end set up under Exchange 2K requires both be Enterprise versions. One improvement Exchange 2003 makes is that front-end servers can now be Standard edition, making a front-end OWA server much more reasonable in price.
