Equal command of "nslooup" in win98?

Dear All;
I want to know an equvilant command of the win2000 "nslookup" in Windows 98 OS.
I'll be thankfull for solution.

It' supported from DOS prompt

It's already builtinto your machine. Your DNS server has to have a reverse-lookup zone first. Most comapnies deny this priviledge though for security reasons.

Not all 98 systems have it....

nslookup is simply a utility supplied with the installation of tcp/ip.

There is a free download for it..

Some 98 systems have it (typically win98se) But I have seen some that don't. I'm not sure of the rhyme or reason behind the lack of it, maybe someone else can clue me in on it.

If that one does not work, you can always try SamSpade. However, you will need your firewall open for specific ports to allow SamSpade to work.

As for as firewalls allowing dns queries from client machines, which is all that nslookup is, will be based upon the security of your LAN.

Typically, the only times that you would'nt be able to query your name server is when there is some weird dns proxy going on.
