The manufacturing company I work for is looking to change ERP systems. Does anyone have any suggestions or companies I should stay away from?

I have looked into several but I would like user recommendations.

Implementing a new ERP system for most companies is a long, tedious and expensive operation, that needs a thorough study.
Any advice based on the information you give here (which is exactly nothing) would be worthless.

Thanks for your help but you are correct I wanted to hear what and how others used their systems in the manufacturing community. I didn’t realize there were so many ERPs that work with our system and have so many issues. The feedback from the same question has been very helpful. I will take all their pros and cons into consideration. Hope you have a better day.

      Given it’s a manufacturing company.

Have your lawyer sit in on negotiations. They do a fine job of spotting contract problems.

Remember I take it this is a serious question so after seeing too many ERP failures over the years, have the lawyer involved to review the contracts and make the companies nervous and afraid to pull a fast one.

Choosing right ERP system can be challenging

As you said, there are numerous ERP systems out there. Choices of the best suited ERP System are based on size, functionality and business sector. There are both On-prem and On-cloud solutions which can be rewarding if implemented correctly. For example, if the need is to have a well defined Procurement System Ariba has it all, but if you are looking for a sophisticated Sales Systems “Salesforce” can be right. For a complete manufacturing system Oracle SCM and/or SAP MDM pans out well, while Oracle financails, Netsuite are forerunners in financials. However, there is no one fit for any industry or organization. It requires detailed analysis and planning. Depending on the scope and budget there are many self sufficient ERP systems that can be customized and implemented to fit the needs. However, it is always suggested to utilize advisory services to do the suitability analysis. Choose ERP systems from the suggested list after carefully negotiating terms before signing the contract. It is also very important not only to choose right ERP software, but to choose right implementation partner.

I would recommend you remember that ERP systems can vary greatly in terms of functionality, scalability, and cost. It’s always a good idea to get user recommendations and do some research on the different systems. Some popular ERP systems for manufacturing companies include SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, and NetSuite. However, it’s important to keep in mind that an ERP system is a long-term investment, so it’s worth taking your time and evaluating your options carefully.
