error 1324 help

I recently installed office xp and it was working fine. I then installed the service pack and some other security updates for win xp. Now anytime I try to open up an office program I get the message “error 1324 the folder path ‘program files’ contains an invalid character.” I tried removing office xp but this error pops up. I tried deleting the regeristry keys for office but that does not work. Any suggestions?
