Error in Outlook 2007

By larr230 ·
After uninstalling and re-installing Exchange 2007, I keep getting an error "Outlook could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable". It only gives this error on certain e-mails.

Check temp environment variable

A user of mine got the same error on launch of Outlook in Citrix. Found out it was an incorrect value in reg key: key HKEY_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Cache. Check the value of the string and make sure it points to a location that exists. Since this was on a Citrix server, HKEY_USERS was used during the user's active session, you may need to look at CURRENT USER for workstation based user. I had to point the value to ?%Userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files? and make sure the path exists. Hope this helps.
