Error: Invalid printer name

By bjacobs ·
I can browse to the printer, and tell it to connect, it then say windows needs a to set up your printer. It comes up with the above error, either way. I can go add printers(blah, blah ,blah) and it will come up every time.
Specs:
work station win 2000 sp4
server Server 2000 sp4
print server hp
It does this on trying to install any printer.

Thanks in advance

Since you're using a print server, have you tried TCP/IP printing instead?

Try recreating the share name of the printer, do a referesh, (F5), then go to your W2K Professional and connect to it again.

Try using an hp jetdirect port configuring the ip address, subnet mask, gateway when you are installing your printer,be sure to have the printer card with the ip address and there's not another port using the ip address, if this is the case delete the existing port and try again.
