Error message upon booting computer

By sparky6465 ·
When I boot my (old but still functional)HP Pavilion a700n desktop I get an error message that gives the option to send\dont send. When I click on the button for more information I get the following two lines.

C:DOCUME~1\HP_Owner\LOCALS~1Temp\WERba76.dir00\MXTask.exe.mdmp

C:DOCUME~1\HP_Owner\LOCALS~1Temp\WERba76.dir00\appcomat.txt

Can anyone help me with this and what is it?

Thanks

Minidump and Error

by willcomp In reply to Error message upon bootin ...

Those files are generated by error reporting in XP. There should be an associated minidump file in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder on your hard disk.

TR doesn't have any way of attaching files to a comment that I know of. I think my e-mail address in in my profile. You can send me the most recent minidump file (.dmp) and I'll run it through the debugger.

Info on these processes

Check this page for more info::

http://www.file.net/process/mxtask.exe.html

The other file appears to be related to windows application compatibility. It appears that there's something starting up when your computer starts that isn't compatible with your OS, but without more info on what your computer is starting when it loads windows, it's hard to say. May be that something's incompatible with a recent windows update, if you do windows updates automatically.

Would also suggest a full virus scan with updated definitions.
