error msg when opening a word doc

By kpike2 ·
I get 2 error messages.

One is, the current document is being used by "username" would you like to make a copy. (The user that is trying to open it is the one that is getting the msg that is displaying their username)

The second one is, would you like to revert to the saved document. This message appears if it is the first time in a long time we have opened to document. Or we have just viewed it an hour ago.

Is there anyone who can help. I would appreicate any feed back. Thanks!

Delete any temp files that Word leaves around. They start with a tilde (~). In most cases, you can delete using ~*.*
Rename/delete Normal.dot.

Answer:

If the computer is on the domain, you have not created a local user on that pc with domain rights... Add user.. Username / Domain.

Also close word and just type this in the run box:

winword /regserver

That will re-register word and problem is gone.

Good Luck.

Thank you for your time this worked. However, I did have to run the command for a cmd line and go to the file that winword was located. Thanks again!!
