error "recordset not updatable" on form

By ra_tevis ·
I have a form that has been modified to collect and store additional data. The form has a subform that is powered by a query. After I made the changes and put them back into production all is fine except that I have found one user that when they try to make changes in the subform the status bar indicates "recordset not updatable" (all other users are fine). I opened the query for this subform and tried to make changes to the data directly in the datasheet view with the same negative affects.I have tried loading the database locally on the problem machine and still have negative results. We are not using workgroups, and I have re-installed Access on this machine. This problem is really holding up production. Does anyone have a suggestion?

error "recordset not updatable" on form

by roc180 In reply to error "recordset not upda ...

I have seen this problem with linked SQL Server tables. To correct the problem I deleted all linked tables and relinked them. The other possible source of the problem may lie in security rights to the database, are you using a DSN that requires a password to the database. Check to see if the user can add\edit data in the table, maybe they have read only rights to the database.

Good Luck

No password is required, and this user can make changes to other tables, with other forms. User was able to use this form prior to changes. Since some changes, the user was unable to make changes (yet all other users can). I will try to relink tables and see if this corrects the problem.

error "recordset not updatable" on form

Both your Form AND subform contain an "After Insert" event. Try placing "Me.Requery" in each form's After Insert" event to insure any time either form is updated both of your queries remain synchronized. You would also need this if the user ever wanted to make a second entry before leaving the form. Only a Requery will insert a new "blank" record for user input. Good Luck - Don Quigg

ps: Thank's for updating your responses - so few users are courteous enough to do this!!!

error "recordset not updatable" on form

I have placed the Me.Requery in both and still have no success. I have notice that this subform does not display a blank record line for the last record in the view. Again all other machines are fine, it is almost as though this one machine open the form allow updates, edits.. etc = false. At this point all I can determin is the machine must be having a problem, and will need to repaired or replaces. Thank you all who tried to help.
