Error running auto archive in Outlook

    Locked

    by james.yu ·

I have a few users in my company encountered the same problem when running auto archive in Outlook. The error message is “Error while archiving folder, some items could not be copied. They were either moved or deleted, or access was denied.” The email that can not be archived was the one with attachement and Norton Antivirus was running. Can anyone help me to solve this?

Seems like you have already identified your problem ^_^
NAV has probably locked the attachment for scanning or attempting to quarantine it.
Either try stopping NAV first, or you can get the users to save the attachment somewhere and delete the email manually. Then do the autoarchive.

You can also add the autoarchive pst as a personal folder, then move the troublesome email manually (after stopping NAV which may not be a good idea, depending if the user is one of those that has infected emails sent to him regularly). Reactivate your NAV after that.

Is there anyway to solve this without having to stop the NAV service everytime when doing the auto archive? this is bacause some of the users are from the top management, and you know :p so i actually looking for a permanent solution to this.

ok this work me me so you might want to try it. I ran the isinteg ulitity for the exchange server and that fix my problem.
You have to shutdown the exchange server and backup your .pub and .pri database. CMD line that i use: isinteg -t”Location of database” -fix -pri or -pub -test alltests
Read about it before you do it.
For more information, see the Isinteg.rtf file on the Exchange Server 5.5 CD, in the following location:
        Server\Support\Utils\Isinteg.rtf
I don’t know if this will fixyour problem but it fixed mine and i still had my virus program running. Good Luck!

Ok that was not the total fix for us. This is what I found out. I had to exclude *.pst from being scanned by our Virus software. That fixed the problem for us. I hope this will help you on your troubleshooting.

The answer 2 from jjustice@solidiform.com seems like quite complicated to implement especially it involves shutting down of Exchange server. Din’t know if any one has also try this before? I will gather more info on this and if i try and it helps, jjustice@solidiform.com you will get your points. Anyway thanks for responding!!
