Error-Smart Bridge Alert

By SUGARSNAP ·
Since downloading IE7, I get an error message:
Smart Bridge Alerts: Motive SB.exe - Entry Point not found.
The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL
I check the Microsoft site and many people seem to be getting the same message, but to date no one mentions how to fix it. Any suggestions?

there is an alternative in solving this problem just in case you cannot find your ISP folder in the C..here's how..
> go to RUN
> type these: msconfig
> click 'start up'
> there will be a list and one of them will say MOTIVE SB .. (click on this one)
> click 'apply'
> restart computer

that's it! it solved the problem..(also, :))

I downloaded IE7 yesterday and am also getting the same error message. Motive SB.exe - Entry Point Not Found. I have been looking for a solution and it has been suggested that I go into program files/MotiveSB.exe, find PSAPI.DLL and rename it to something like PSAPIOLD.DLL, then re-boot and it should be solved. However I am not technically 'aware' and am reluctant to do this until I find someone else who has had success with this fix. Please contact me if anyone out there has a simple, step by step solution.

SmartBridge Alert

I had the same issue after downloading the IE v 7 unto my laptop computer. I called Microsoft hopefully to get a proper resolution. However, instead of fixing the problem, it became a worst problem. Microsoft help desk advice me to rename the PSAPI.DLL in the folder C:\windows\system32 to PSAPI.OLD. Restarted the computer and now it is not working. I tried safe mode and all other modes, this time I am getting the blue screen of death. "Fatal System Error".

Now I am in a dillema of losing my files. Unfortunately the computer I bought came with the pre-installed XP and only came with the company disk recovery cd which do not have all the Win XP components.

Microsoft advice to get the Win XP cd to hopefully run the Restore.
