Error Uninstall Norton Internet Security

Hardware = Compaq (probably 5 years old)
OS = WIN98 Second Edition
+ Uninstall option of Norton Internet Security Professional 2002 does not work. Error window says supervisor access needed.
+ Install new Norton Internet Security Professional 2004 not allowed because user does not have supervisor access. Application is WIN98 compatible.
+ Default user logon. No password or users set up.
+ Supervisor access selection of application disappears after opening security area.
+ Old application quit working after user downloaded new application and attempted install.
+ What is the solution for removing the old application and installing the new application?
