Error while installing IE7

By Kaw. ·
After restarting my computer, following what I believed to be a successful installation of IE7, a blue screen appeared with the message:

STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum}
The image wininet.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.

Is it possible to repair, or would a reinstall be necessary?

Uninstall and Try Again

IE7 installs a new version of wininet.dll and it appears that copy on you system is either corrupt or older version.

Un-install IE7 and try installing again. When un-installed (from Add/Remove Programs), you will revert to IE6.

Before installing IE7 again, disable any anti-virus, anti-spyware, or firewall (other than Windows firewall) software that is running.

Any other solutions...?

The problem is that Windows doesn't start up.

Would repairing Windows by using the recovery console work?
