Errors on Frame Load w/ JavScrpt Protocl

    Locked

    by cres ·

I’m trying to find out about some errors I keep getting (mostly in MSIE) when I use a JavaScript protocol to load internal documents (variables in the frameset doc) into a frameset’s frames.

My “Frame Tag” looks something like:

where “obj1” is a variable in the frameset document that has the value of a text string for an HTML document.

The error message I get in MSIE is often something like:

“The page cannot be displayedThe page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

    Please try the following: ( … )”

or else a message in the status bar like “Document: Done, with page errors”

In Netscape, if the page fails to load, the result is often just a blank frame with a gray background.

I’m generally using Navigator 4.76 and MSIE 5.5 on Windows NT.

Have searched online and in O’Reilly’s “JavaScript: The Definitive Guide,” but can’t find anything about this so far. There’s a similar kind of project in chapter 2 of O’Reilly’s “JavaScript Application Cookbook.”

    Any help or ideas appreciated.
