Exc2k: problem with logon to exchange

    Locked

    by vanalex ·

    Hi!

I have a situation where users without domain admins menbership are not allowed to access their exchk2k mail box any more.

They logon to the domain just fine but when they open Outlook 2000 it asks for their credentials again and doesn’t allow them in.

Any user that is given domain admins menbership can logon without problems. Any ideia?

P.S: Somebody messed up the domain roles on 3 DCs, I mnanaged to take to offline and give allroles to the exck2k server….Cleaned every entry to the others DCs on DNS has well.

Really desperate without ideias here since I’m not an exchange person.

      sounds like a AD problem.

Try creating a new “domain user” account in AD and then setup Outlook on a workstation to use Exchange server for mail. If AD wasn’t messed up then that new domain user account should log right in to the mailbox. If you still have the problem where that new domain user account can not log into their mailbox on Exchange, you have a more serious problem. AD uses that account based upon the default permission of that account for access to Exchange.

      Here is your answer:

Somehow the Registry got fouled up. Check for the following entries:

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ ClientProtocols]
      “ncacn_np”=”rpcrt4.dll” type REG_SZ
      “ncacn_ip_tcp”=”rpcrt4.dll”
      “ncadg_ip_udp”=”rp crt4.dll”
      “ncacn_http”=”rpcrt4.dll”

      look at:

      http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=k b;en-us;321652

If they arent there, you will have to add the values.
The reason admins can connect with Exchange is that Admins can use protocols other than TCP/IP to communicate with Exchange, non admins cant.
