Excel 2000 formula bug?

By Cheyra ·
I use a spreadsheet for a deposit summary that includes formulas for calculating taxes. Totals are normally bang on, but occasionally the actual invoice totals will be 'one penny over' (even though they are correct) against the spreadsheet totals. Would anyone know of something I can add to my formulas to correct this problem? Thank you.

Stray portions of a cent

I suspect that your tax calculations are based on a percentage.

If so, from time to time, there will be fractional cents that are either rounded up or truncated.
How you and your accountant deal with the fractional cents determines what happens over time.
If you leave the fractional cents in place, over time the automatic round up will recover them.
If you wish to get rid of the fractional amounts, you will need to add a truncate function to your tax formula.
