Excel 2000 kicks me back to logon screen

By stromn ·
We have recently upgraded to Office 2000 SR1 on a Windows NT 4.0 platform. One of the PCs will not run Excel correctly. Everytime we try to customize the toolbar, we get kicked back to the logon screen. We have tried repairing and even reinstalling Office 2000 to no avail. Anybody know what's happening?

Your problem prob goes deeper than an Excel prob. Was this a new install of NT? Factory install? Thoroughly check Event Viewer for any and all erors. We had a few NT boxes do the same thing at one point. We had to re-install NT. Check NT Diagnostics as well to see if you have any resource conflicts. If you have an identical box, you could attempt to import a good registry as a last ditch effort for repair. Damn PC's!

This is an old installation of NT 4.0 with SP6a running on a Digital Celebris 6200 P200 PC. There are no conflicts that I can see. But if I don't get any other suggestions, then I may reformat the drive as you suggest.
