Excel 2002 editing comments

Hi,
I have a client who works in a Excel 2002 spreadsheet that I recently configured as a shared workbook due to the addition of a new staff member who needs to update that same spreadsheet concurrently.
They now find that they cannot edit comments as they could when it wasn’t opened as a shared file.
Any ideas as the client is complaining of having to delete the comments to change them?
