You've got a couple choices. The easiest way to do this is to run a Repair on Office. To do so follow the steps here:

This should bring you directly to the On-demand detect and repair section of that article.

If you're not an administrator, you'll probably be unable to run that so you will need to follow these steps to accomplish this manually:

1. Open Windows Explorer (launch My Computer).
2. Click Tools then Folder Options and choose the File Types tab.
3. You'll see a rather long list of file types. Scroll nearly all the way down to "XLS Microsoft Excel Worksheet" and click it.
4. Click the Advanced button and the Edit File Type dialog pops up.
5. Ensure "Open" is the default; it should in bold. If it's not, click it then hit the Set Default button.
6. Choose Open if you haven't already and click the Edit button.
7. Make sure "Use DDE" is checked. Now you need to fill in these fields EXACTLY including case and brackets ("DDE Application not running" stays blank):
DDE Message:

Now click OK (3 times) until you're back to Windows Explorer. Reboot the PC to be sure it sticks and you should be good to go.

See why I said try Repair first?

Click on View from the Menu bar, select Full Screen. Select the desired tool bar from Toolbars, and then select the Formula Bar and the Status Bar if they are not displayed.
Display the Sheet tabs; click Tools, Options?, activate the View tab, check the Sheet tabs box in Window options and click OK. Save your workbook.
