    Excel

    I have two machines running Windows ME and Office 2000. Whenever an Excel spreadsheet is opened just for viewing or moving around without making any changes, when you close out of it, a prompt displays that says “Do you want to save changes?”
    I tried opening the same spreadsheet using Windows 98SE with Office 97 and do the same thing without making any changes and I don’t get that prompt.

    Any clue as what might be causing this? Thanks

      Are both versions the same?

      Obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
      Also Volitile functions can cause this such as:
      AREAS()
      INDEX()
      OFFSET()
      CELL()
      INDIRECT()
      ROWS()
      COLUMNS()
      NOW()
      TODAY()
      RAND()

      In a similar situation I found that opening the file in Excel 2K, then doing a ?SAVE AS?, then in the ?Save as type:? select ? ?Microsoft Excel 97-2000 & 5.0/95 Workbook (.xls)?, corrects the problem.
