Locked

Excel

By damra2000 ·
Whenever I try to edit an existing worksheet, by selecting the active cell with the mouse, it will not allow any info to be entered into the cell and I cannot do anything because the cursor will not change back to the e\arrow to access the menu commands. It selects everything in its path. I have tried clicking the mouse etc. always with the same result. I have removed and reloaded office 2000 and even loaded office xp, no change!
Please help!!!! thank you!

Use F8 to toggle off EXTended mode. You can tel when it is on by the letters EXT on the status bar.

Did you try to select the cell and click in the formula bar? I know of a users who tryed to enter information just into a cell and it did not work. I told them to click on the cell and then click on in the formula bar. There is another way to do it also. Next to the formula bar there is a cell number. Click on that and change the cell number manually. Then go to the formula bar and enter the information you want. Also check to make sure that the file is not just read only. I hope this helps you.

This may not be the total answer, but make sure your worksheet is not protected. Check under Tools, Protection. If the first choice is Unprotect Worksheet, click on that
