Excel cannot find the data

I have a worksheet with some 3000 records. The find utility is working fine only up to row 2222, after that even if the record is certainly there, I got a “Excel cannot find the data” message. And that foe any record below that point. I checked the format of the cells before and beyond that point, everything looks the same.
Any clues ?
