There is a green mark in the upper left corner of a cell on an Excel spreadsheet. Iti s similar to the comment mark on the right hand side. I can't find anywhere that tells me what it is. Can any one help me?

It's an Error indicator. Select the cell and then click on the ! tag that appears. You can change how the indicator works and change its color.
You can also adjust it or turn it off at Tools>Options Error Checking.

In the Excel help file type:

"About triangle indicators in cells"

In the Answer Wizard.

Also:

"The Error Checking Options button is displayed when the formula in an Excel worksheet cell triggers an error. In addition to the button, the cell itself is marked with a small green triangle in the upper-left corner."
