excel display zero value

By jbtacctg ·
Excel:Tools/Options/display zero values is not checked. Works as expected EXCEPT a number string where the FIRST value is a negative does display the zero result, which I can't format to hide. Rearranging the order of addition using a positive number first for the exact same string hides the zero result. I've never noticed this before. What gives?

custom cell formatting

by robo_dev In reply to excel display zero value

To hide zero value in specific cells:

The third section in the number custom formatting (after the second returns the formatting for a zero value. To hide the zero value, erase the # and 0 symbols in this section. The formatting will now display an empty cell.

Example:
#,##0_;[Red](#,##0);;
