Excel Help

By Hunter_Lake ·
Hello All,

Need some help with an excel project ... looking for a formula to manipulate an old asset number to a new format ...

old format is either a 4 or 5 digit number

1001, 1002 .. or 20021 for example

The new format adds ME- and the first digit of the old number

1001 turns into ME-11001, 20021 = ME-220021, etc

I have the "ME-" part down =("ME-"&A2) but not sure how to add the fisrt digit of the old number?

Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?

Thanks, JZ

Use the LEFT() function

by Bizzo In reply to Excel Help

Like this:

="ME-"&LEFT(A2,1)&A2

It will concatenate "ME-" and the first character of A2, and A2
