Excel Macro digital signature. Can I sign just the macro?

    by weylered ·

I have an Excel macro that is used to produce a daily report. I add it to each new PC we get (46 right now) so any staffer can produce this report. I’d like to digitally sign it to add some security to excel. Right now any macro will run with the trust setting is at trust anything.

Knowing nothing of these do I; buy one from a vendor or learn to set up a signature?

And, can I sign the macro itself so, upon installation, the signature is valid or will I need to go back and add a signature to each pc?

    Thanks in advance, Ed

Open the workbook or template that contains the macro project you want to sign. On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Visual Basic Editor. In the Project Explorer, click the project you want to sign. On the Tools menu, click Digital Signatures.
To ensure authenticity, you are only required to provide signatures available with the authority. … No Mather how many different signatures you use, they’re equally legal.

        Issues with Digital Signatures

        Hey Everyone,

I am trying to sign an excel document, but I keep getting a pop up saying that I need a digital ID. I then get redirected to a microsoft website where I can buy a signature. (spam link removed by moderator)

On every other computer I try this on, I am allowed to create a signature, but it just says that excel cant authenticate it.

Does anyone have any idea how to bypass the Digital ID issue?
